Annual Scientific Session

HVSA was founded in 2001 by a group of nationally and internationally recognized American experts to advance knowledge of the field of heart valve disease through education, information and research. The Society was formalized with incorporation and tax-exempt charitable status in 2004.

HVSA has pursued its mission primarily through its scientific session, which began as an annual meeting in New York in 2001 and has grown into a major international conference, co-sponsored by HVSA's European counterpart, the Society for Heart Valve Disease (SHVD).

For the past year, the HVSA Board and interested members of the valve community from Europe and around the world have been working to finalize the details of a new international heart valve society, which will include members from the US, Europe, Asia, Africa, North and South America and Australia.  Their hard work has come to fruition with the news that the new Heart Valve Society (HVS) will formally come into existence at the end of 2014.

HVSA members in good standing will automatically become members of this new society.
